A Trip to The Lake

We were lucky enough to go boating with our friends, the Mowers, on Saturday. Adam had to take the day off to help them with the adventure. We had so much fun. I am not a big fan of water though, I loved being on the boat watching others be daring but me? Not so daring I guess. I was really quite sad that I couldn't toughen it out. My knee dislocated in the mean time forcing me to get off the tube, but I wasn't too far away from chickening out anyways. It was one of those fears I was trying to face and didn't do so well. It may have been that my son was right next to me and I was worried for him too, no, I think I was just a chicken. The water was so beautiful but the downside was summers itch was at a high level (a parasite in the water that bites you) so the kids had little bites but by the morning they were gone.
BayLee and Logan loved to be pulled by the boat on the tube. They were screaming in a way that I haven't ever heard them scream. I was so impressed that they both were ok with the whole idea. I think BayLee will be my evil caneval. She will do just about anything. She wanted to go faster, so did Logan.
Adam wasn't able to do the wake board like he wanted because a wind storm came in and we had dry lightening so we had to leave. We had so much fun with our friends and hope to go out again real soon! This summer has been great!!!!
Mia at first was her usual "I hate the water" self, but by the end she was having so much fun in the water as long as she was in her stroller with the water hitting her feet. Logan was happy to be there, I promise.
Logan was awesome on the tube. I wish I had a picture of him smiling on the tube because he was loving it. This is right as the wind was picking up and the water was getting pretty rough. He did great and wants to go back today.
This is how I really felt...... Logan was saying "please go faster" mom can deal with it. Hey, who's side is he on anyways???
Teen Wolf tubing style
This is right as my knee went POP right out of place....don't worry though, still had a blast. Don't know if I will try it again though.
BayLee was a superstar! I was so worried but once my friend Kim told me to relax, I just let her have fun. BayLee will be my thrill seeker I am sure of it.
Tristin teaching the girls the signs for tubing. I used the stop one really fast.
Now THIS was more my style. Trinity(one of my former young women from church-now she is considered a friend!) and I took the kayak out on the lake. It was great excersise! Watch out olympics.....we are dang good.
Such a great Daddy.

The Children Were Nestled all Snug in Their Beds.....Or were they?

He is TOTALLY going to kill me for this! But it was AWESOME!!! I thought he was in bed and I went to kiss him goodnight again on my way to bed (like I do everynight) and I saw this. He is so funny. Play Play Play is his middle name. Goodnight.

Here Froggie Froggie....

We took a little adventure today with our best friends to hunt for tadpoles. Well, after much searching and mudding we came up with one tadpole and one frog. We had fun searching and the kids had a blast playing in the water. We even sent Logan into a pond that was behind a rod iron fence. Nothing wrong with that is there? It was a lot of fun to watch the kids search and help eachother. Tyson (the little boy in red in the first picture) thought that everything in sight was a frog or tadpole. We had a nice little picnic and let the kids play to their hearts content in the canal. I am thinking we will spend a lot of time at this park as it gets hotter.
Tyson after getting soaked

I thought of the movies "My Girl" and "Bridge to Teribithia" as I was watching JD and BayLee. They are the best of friends-even when they're not. He was sweet enough to give her the only tadpole that Logan had caught. Such a sweetheart.

The two girls running up stream.

Logan searched and searched every ounce of water. He was determined to make all the kids happy.

The search goes on.....

The other brave mom! She is the greatest!!!!!
*Please note, there aren't any pictures of Mia. She was there but since there was water involved......she stayed in the stroller. Still working on the fear.(I did dip her toes in though-She proceeded to freak out.)

Memorial Day Fun

Windy times with Cousins

Because of the funeral, we had a lot of cousins in town. We don't really ever get to see Adams cousins and their kids too often so it was fun to get together and let the kids play. The wind came from nowhere and I all of a sudden had sympathy for Dorothy and poor Toto. The power then went out ONLY on our half of the street. It made for a very eventful night.
The temperature went down to the 80's and BayLee was begging for me to pull out the cocomotion machine for hot cocoa!!! Silly girl...

Logan trying to fly away with a PVC pipe. He weighs so little that it probably
could have happened!
Mias toys were blowing everywhere.

Here are the cousins!! Mia was too freaked out by the wind, hence
Adam is with the kids. Three are mine, four are Eds and Elizabeths. It was so fun, but once
again Logan is a lot older and one of the few boys.
I love the girls hair in this picture.

A Tribute To Grandma Dover

Adams Grandma, Elmyra Dover, passed away about two weeks ago. Her funeral was on Friday and I have been wanting to do a post about her and am now just getting around to it.

I have Elmyra to thank for how well Adam has turned out. He was born into "not the best" situation, and he was a lot like Logan as far as behavior. He was too much for his dad, so Grandma raised him. She was an amazing woman and Adam has great memories of her. I admire her for so many reasons. She was a very Christlike person and had bailed her kids out of trouble several times. She had a rough life but for the most part she kept smiling.

I can just imagine the reunion in heaven. She loved genealogy and loved tracking down relatives and finding out who is related to whom. She had a great sense of humor and loved to join water fights. Adam has great memories of her that not all the grandkids have. She taught him, led him, never gave up on him (for that I thank her), she always put others first.

It was really special to see Grandpa Dover come in on his wheelchair and Adam pushing him to the casket. He just sat and stared for the longest time (he had a stroke a couple years ago and she has been taking care of him). He started to cry and Adam comforted him, he heard grandpa mumble "I love you. I will see you soon". It was so sweet to watch his love for his wife. I am so glad to know that this life isn't the end. It was so hard to say goodbye knowing we would see her again, I can't imagine thinking that this life was the end. That brings great comfort.

So, Grandma, we love you and I thank you for raising my husband, and NEVER giving up. That means the world to me.

To Watch Or Not To Watch

This is Jillian from The Bachlorette. I have debated and debated whether or not to invest another long season of it. I get sucked in....then in the end I just want to throw a remote at the tv. They never pick the right one, then when they finally do, they dump them for the other one. Just something about this show sucks me right in. We'll see if I can last........

Our Family Staycation

This past weekend I had a Relief Society retreat at a timeshare. It was so much fun and a great little getaway. Well, one of our friends had reserved the smaller unit for Saturday night and they were unable to use it so they gave the night to our family. It was so much fun and we enjoyed being together as a family after the weekend without mom. Although the kids had a blast without me for the weekend. Play play play.
We discovered that Mia hates the pool-hence there aren't any pictures of her or I swimming. It was so much fun to watch Adam play with the kids.
I have come to the conclusion we need to invest in a timeshare. :)

After throwing Logan into the water. The effects of this picture are really cool. BayLee and Mom in the full sized kitchen making breakfast before we headed off to church.

Such a happy kid. Trying to bribe him for a
haircut. "But Mom! Everyone has long hair"

Now THIS is what it is all about.

The People That Call Me Mom+2 dogs

Posted by Picasa
I love this day. I love to reflect on my calling in life. There is nothing better than being a mom. I think the only thing that compares is being the daughter of my wonderful mother. I love the understanding I now have of what it means to love unconditionally. I now understand why mom told me "no", I now understand the importance of chores, the importance of responsibility, the importance of patience. I now understand why my mom told me "no" when I asked for something in a store. I love my mom, I love that my kids love me. I love the moments when I can laugh at their jokes, I love that I can cry when they cry. I love that I am the one they come running to when someone has hurt their feelings (never mess with the mother bear). I love that they are always (well most of the time)make me laugh. They keep me busy, they make me laugh, they make me cry. I am so thankful that I have had the chance to bring three wonderful children into the world. I am so thankful that my mom brought me into this world.
Being a mom is the GREATEST ROLLER COASTER RIDE ever made. :) Happy mothers day.

Rare Precious Moment

Sometimes it is the little things that melt my heart. These two don't get along very well most of the time but today I looked over and saw this and had to capture it. I hope that they will become the best of friends as life goes on. But for now I will cherish this moment.
