Our Christmas Tree!

I know what you are thinking!! It is time to take the Halloween decorations down. Well, we decided to do something different this year. After 11 Christmases together, Adam came up with a new tradition this year-do a different themed tree each year. I think it sounds great-kinda crazy- but great. His birthday is Christmas day so I decided what the heck, I will let him choose this years theme. The day after Halloween we were out on a date cruisin Target(what we call a date) and we were checking out the clearance for Halloween decorations. They were pretty much GIVING things away. Adam looked at me with a big smile and said, "Let's do our tree in the Nightmare Before Christmas theme". I thought it was a wonderful idea and BayLee LOVES this movie. We had so much fun shopping for the tree, we wanted to come straight home and decorate!I made ornaments for the tree too.

These are the ornaments. I took Balsa wood,(used for rc planes-Adam has TONS) and printed out images from the movie. After that I used, any guesses?????? Of course, MODGE PODGE! I modge podged the images onto the wood and got this cool yarn from the Dollar Store. It was so much fun and it will look great on a garland for Halloween next year.
We found these darling little pumpkin and skeleton plaster baskets that we used as ornaments too. We also used Skeleton and spider garland instead of ribbon or rag garland. Again we will be able to use the garland for Halloween next year too.We found the very last white illuminating pumpkin at Walmart. We dug and dug for it. It makes the perfect tree topper!
Here is the finished product! We used orange and purple lights and minature pumpkin lights. I know that this isn't "traditional" but we are really enjoying it. It is fun doing something different. I told Adam it has to stop at the tree so Christmas will be felt in our home! I wonder what the theme will be next year?............

Lil Peanut Patch 12 Days of Christmas

The Lil Peanut Patch is doing a great giveaway! It is the 12 days of Christmas and there will be two winners with 6 prizes! I thought that was pretty cool so I wanted to let everybody know. I have won things from them and have been very pleased! :) So head on over and check it out!

Thanksgiving in a Nutshell

We had such a great Thanksgiving. We went to Cedar City and visited my parents. My aunt Diana and Uncle Gary were there too and added so much to our day. I really am blessed with a great family. They are all great. We spent the morning playing Parcheesi (never play it with Logan-he plays for blood) with Logan winning of course, eating snacks, eating snacks, drinking coke, eating snacks, fixing lunch, and did I mention eating snacks.
We all went around the table and said what we are thankful for and Tony called just in time to be a part of it!!!! We missed them but know we have to be fair and SHARE them.
*Mia is still not feeling well so she spent her first Thanksgiving sleeping. That is why there aren't pics of her. :(
Logans favorite part about the Thanksgiving Feast is lighting
the candles.
Can you say PYRO!!

Adam was still not feeling good so he spent most of his
time on this couch asleep. BayLee got them both blankets and
settled in for a nap.
Is this not the cutest candle???

My mom and Aunt Diana always do a great job in
decorating the table. Rachel Ray and Martha would be
proud!! :)

What Happens when Adam Takes NyQuil

Every year Adam makes the Apple and Cherry Pie for Thanksgiving. This year he has a really bad cold and still insisted on making the pies. He called in sick on Wednesday and spent most of the day drugged and in bed. I got the crust made and went and pulled him out of bed to do the rest. He is the artistic one between us, he does such a great job with the pies. I am so thankful for him and the love that he shows me and the help he gives me when he can. He works so hard for our family and works super hard so I don't have to go to work and can TRY to raise good kids.

Finished Cherry Pie

Wiping the brow

Open Pie Surgery (this is when the overdose of NyQuil is apparant-laughing my head off at this point)

At this point I was worried. :) BayLee was so confused..........

Family Photo Shoot---then the batteries died!!

Can I just tell you how lucky we are to be living in such a great area. There are photo opportunities all over the place. We try to take our family photos somewhere different each year. This year we went to the Jacob Hamblin home. Jacob Hamblin is part of LDS history and setteled Santa Clara. Out front there are peach trees and a grape vineyard.
I really wanted to take a fun crazy family photo in the tree but the darn batteries in the camera died!!! One thing about digital cameras that drives me nutso!!!

Four little monkeys playing in the tree!

Bronco Sunday

My brother is the BIGGEST Denver Bronco Fan and I am afraid it is rubbing off onto my nephew. He wakes up, asks my brother what day it is, my brother says Sunday, and Ajay says "BRONCO SUNDAY". He is only 2!!! He is so sweet and I guess it is ok that he likes the Broncos. Maybe one day he will play football.

New Kids Still Have "IT"!!

What a blast we had!! I had a wonderful reunion with Ellie-it was great. We spent the day laughing, talking, shopping, and hanging out. Got lost and confused a couple times WITH a GPS but we laughed our way through it and made memories we will laugh at forever. We went to Cracker Barrel for dinner where we found out that the NEW KIDS had eaten breakfast there that morning. We could hardly focus on eating our dinner. We hustled to the E Center with awesome buttons that Ellie bought in the 80's and brought them with her. They were a big hit.
The concert was MAGICAL. I told my kids it was better than DisneyLand and I love Disneyland. We screamed our way through the night, dancing, yelling, STANDING, jumping. Thanks to Ellies wonderful hubby Wade, he is definatley a great catch. Thanks again Wade and Ellie.
Next time, it's on me Ellie. Great times and it seriously is the best concert I have been to. They did a great show and they look great too!! I would write more but I am living on three hours of sleep. Must get to bed.

Ellie and I before the concert. Don't you just love this flag??? Ellie got it in Italy.
Friends Forever For SURE!!!!

Of Course I HAD to get a shirt.

The time is finally here and I can hardly wait. I am headed to Salt lake this weekend to see New Kids on The Block on Tour. My bestfriend from highschool that I haven't seen since 1992 got us tickets, I am so excited.

New Kids on The Block are very much a part of me. You may think I am crazy, but there is something about it that makes me smile. Maybe the memories I think about when I hear the songs. I was living in Athens Greece when they were a big thing. I remember dancing to their songs, I remember lip syncing to them with friends, I remember Aaron Withers and "Our song" and how it made me cry everytime I heard it after we "broke up"-we didn't even ever talk to eachother. I remember trying to do the "Hangin Tough" dance. I now have my kids dancing to their music and it is so much fun to watch them. They may get teased about it but HEY leave them alone. :)

I am also excited to see Ellie. We had so much fun in HighSchool together. We have stayed in touch all these years and I think it will be easy to fall back into easy conversation. I don't think it would be that way with everyone-it takes a special friendship I think. I remember hiking with Ellie, I remember slapping her a little too hard in a play we were doing for a competition, I remember laughing with Ellie, I remember doing Cheerleading together, I remember crying my eyes out for days when she moved, I remember her writing me a letter on a coconut from Hawaii to Italy and the postoffice workers had never seen anything like it. It is so great to have 2 flashbacks happen in one weekend, two of my favorite memories. Such great memories and I am excited to write about our weekend when I get back.

Cousins Make the Best Friends

What a long day of in and out of a car can do to a sweet baby. Poor Annalisa.

Is he not the cutest little boy?We had so much fun playing with Ajay.
Ajay playing the wii. The boy can box.

Mia and Annalisa had a great time. Well, Mia did, she was all over
Annalisa. She was very patient while Mia poked her eyes out. I hope
they will be the best of friends growing up. I could eat them up.

Blogging Brain Freeze

Since the election on Tuesday I haven't been my normal cheery blogging self. But as I ran across this quote today in my moms recipe box, I knew it was my Father in Heaven placing this before me. Some times I let things affect me so much that I lose who I am.Will "he" really affect my daily life with my family, friends, and my day to day things. NO, so I need to be supportive and show "him" that I will trust that he has our best interest in mind.

So here is the quote:
"Thank God every morning when you get up that you have something to do that day which must be done whether you like it or not. Being forced to work, and forced to do your best, will breed in your temperance and self-control. Diligence and strength of will, cheerfulness, and content, and a hundred virtues which the idle will never know".

Happy 100 Years Grandma

My Grandma is turning 100 years old today!!! Think about it.....1908 is when she was born. This was when:
*only 14 percent of the homes had bathtubs
*average life expectancy was 47
*Henry Ford developed the first Model T automobile and it sold for 850 dollars
*The speed limit was 10 mph in most places
*The average wage was 22 cents an hour
*sugar was 4 cents a pound
*Most women only washed their hair once a month, and used Borax or egg yolks for shampoo.
*The population of Las Vegas, Nevada, was only 30
*There was no Mother's Day or Father's Day
*Marijuana, heroin, and morphine were all available over the counter at the local corner drugstores.
*There were about 230 reported murders in the entire U.S.A.
*Federal spending: $0.66 billion
*Theodore Roosevelt was the President
My grandma is one of the greatest people I know. She is always so positive and has a great way of looking at the world. She has seen so much evolve and can't figure out how a cell phone can work the same way as a "rotary phone". I love to hear her stories, my kids do too. What a legacy she holds. She has five children, 17 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. I am so proud to call her my grandma. We have always had a special bond and I know it will lead to the eternities.
It is kind of crazy to me that today is election day-the most important one-and she was born 100 years ago today. The things she must be thinking..........

WHEW! Halloween is finally over. It took so much out of me it took two days to post pictures! We had a fun day. Mia is by far the cutest Wonder Woman!!! We went Trick-or-Treating in Santa Clara because our little town Ivins does a Trunk or Treat instead. We went with our friends, the Doty Gang, and had a great time. Mia even had a few licks of candy. She is still trying to grow some teeth. :) A fun night but man am I glad it only happens once a year.
